Which court decision and certification does the recipient need?
- Identify the case number, court, document title and date as accurately as possible.
- Specify that you need an official certified copy for foreign use and ask about apostille-compatible certification.
- Confirm the receiving authority’s requirements for finality, attachments and translations.
- Use the clerk’s own ordering instructions for protected, sealed or restricted records.
Can a notary certify the downloaded judgment?
Florida excludes court-filed and clerk-recorded public records from the ordinary notarial attested-copy route. The official custodian supplies the certified record. A notary’s statement that a printout matches a screen does not turn it into the clerk-certified judgment required by the applicable filing route.
Florida state court or federal court: which apostille route?
The name of the court matters. A document from a Florida state court generally follows Florida’s process when properly certified. The U.S. Department of State lists federal court documents as federal documents. Do not select the Florida route simply because a federal courthouse is located in Miami.
What is included in the cost of a court-document apostille?
The clerk’s copy charge is separate from Florida’s $20 Clerk-document apostille category. Finding and certifying the complete decision, any required translation and delivery add costs and time. OrazAva’s role is administrative document support. Questions about recognition or enforcement of the judgment abroad belong with a qualified lawyer.
When does court-copy preparation affect your deadline?
For the eligible Florida state-court record, the DOS FAQ specifies receipt-order processing, no state expedited service and possible completion of most walk-in requests while waiting. It gives no fixed mail-processing guarantee. Clerk copy production and any finality certification precede that stage; transport follows it. A federal court document instead uses the federal authority’s current service windows, so check the issuing court before promising a date.
Related questions
Does every page need a separate apostille?
Do not count pages as independent documents automatically. Ask the clerk and filing authority how the certified set is treated.
Can a scan be reviewed before I order the certified copy?
A scan can help identify the decision and route, but actual filing still requires the appropriate official record.
Does the apostille confirm that the decision is final?
No. It authenticates the relevant signature and seal; ask the clerk or your lawyer about evidence of finality.
